Open Door Foundation Launches Holiday Toy Drive

Every year the Open Door Foundation collects and distributes toys for children from families of less fortunate means to ensure every child will receive a brand new toy or gift during the holiday season. This year some of the corporate sponsors of the Open Door Holiday Toy Drive have cut their funding for the program and the organization is looking to the community to help them bring joy to Open Door Family Medical Centers’ young patients. Open Door Family Medical Centers’ team of AmeriCorps/Community HealthCorps volunteers will clean up and renovate a piece of Ossining’s Croton Aqueduct Trail. With support from the Ossining Parks and Recreation Department and donations from the community, volunteers will spend the day revamping and making major safety improvements to the sprawl of land in the heart of the village. Projects include planting two native Dogwood trees, removing glass pieces from the soil and sowing new grass seed, as well as repairing and painting the park’s fence. (learn more)

In keeping with its mission of providing quality health care and human services to those who need it most, Open Door Family Medical Centers has opened its fifth school-based health center at Park Avenue School in Port Chester. The center is open 8:30am-4:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Over half of Park Avenue School’s students are already enrolled with the Center, which is staffed by Open Door providers Debra Gerson, MD, Robin Dillon, NP and Patient Care Technician Gloria Neyra.
