OPEN DOOR PRESIDENT & CEO NAMED FELLOW AT

AMERICAN COLLEGE OF MEDICAL PRACTICE EXECUTIVES

November 2006

Lindsay Farrell, MBA FACMPE, President and CEO of Open Door Family Medical Centers, has become a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE).  Fellowship in the ACMPE is the highest distinction in the medical practice management profession.  ACMPE formally recognized this accomplishment in October at the ACMPE Convocation held in conjunction with the Medical Group Management Association 2006 Annual Conference in Las Vegas.

To achieve Fellowship, Farrell first earned the Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) designation by passing rigorous essay and objective examinations that assess knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management.  This includes financial management, human resources management, planning and marketing, information management, risk management, governance and organizational dynamics, business and clinical operations and professional responsibility.  In addition, Farrell completed the presentation requirement and maintained continuing education credit hours to achieve CMPE status.  To earn Fellowship Farrell submitted a professional research paper about the chronic care model and how it improves the management of chronic illness.

During 2006, ACMPE, the standard-setting and certification body of MGMA, celebrates its 50th anniversary of conferring board certification and Fellowship on medical practice management professionals.  ACMPE has conferred board certification on almost 3,200 professionals – 2,350 CMPEs and 850 Fellows – since its establishment in 1956.  Today ACMPE membership comprises more than 5,400 individuals who have attained CMPE or Fellow status or who seek certification.

“I value the opportunity offered through ACMPE to advance my knowledge of medical practice management and believe that it will allow me to enhance my skills to benefit Open Door and our patients,” said Farrell who has served as the community health center’s President and CEO since 1998, today leading a staff of over 200 employees and overseeing a budget of $21 million. She is the organization’s second leader in 34 years, following its founder, Margaret Griesmer who retired after growing the Open Door from humble beginnings as a free clinic in a church basement.
