Women Organized Around Wellness
Women Organized Around Wellness (WOW) is a community health initiative coalition formed in August 2005 to address the health disparities impacting women of color in the Northern Westchester area. This health initiative is made possible through funding from the NYS Department of Health-Office of Minority Health Community Partnerships Program. We seek to empower women of color of all ages to take control of their health status and fight for improved health outcomes in their communities.
Our focus areas are:
- Women’s Health
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- HIV/AIDS
- Mental Health
WOW addresses these issues through community forums in specific health issues as well as through targeted screening and education efforts in the Northern Westchester area.
