Open Door is accredited by the Joint Commission. The Joint Commission’s Ambulatory Care Accreditation Program was established in 1975, and today more than 19,000 freestanding ambulatory care organizations are Joint Commission-accredited. The Joint Commission sets national standards for health care delivery. Accreditation means that we have demonstrated a commitment to the highest level of patient safety and patient care; and meet the nationally accepted benchmark of quality.
In September of 2010 Open Door was the recipient of the 2010 Davies Community Health Organization Award. The HIMSS Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence has recognized excellence in the implementation and use of health information technology, specifically electronic health records since 1994. There are currently four award categories: Public Health, Organizational, Ambulatory, and Community Health Organizations.
Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is a cause-based, not-for-profit organization exclusively focused on providing global leadership for the use of information technology and management systems for the continued improvement of health care. HIMSS was founded 50 years ago. HIMSS and its related organizations have offices in Chicago, Washington, DC, Brussels, Singapore, Leipzig, and other locations across the United States. It represents more than 35,000 individual members, of which 68% work in health care provider, governmental and not-for-profit organizations. HIMSS also includes over 520 corporate members and more than 120 not-for-profit organizations. HIMSS constructs and influences health care practices and public policy through its content expertise, professional development, and research initiatives designed to promote information and management systems’ contributions to improving the quality, safety, access, and cost-effectiveness of patient care.
In December of 2009 Open Door received the highest level of recognition as a patient-centered medical home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
NCQA’s Physician Practice Connections®- Patient-Centered Medical Home™ (PPC-PCMH)* program reflects the input of the American College of Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics and American Osteopathic Association and others in the revision of Physician Practice Connections® to assess whether physician practices are functioning as medical homes. The PPC-PCMH standards emphasize the use of systematic, patient-centered, coordinated care management processes.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance is a private, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. Since its founding in 1990, NCQA has been a central figure in driving improvement throughout the health care system, helping to elevate the issue of health care quality to the top of the national agenda.
